Jillian's revised essential question is: What are the emotional effects on a person living with conduction aphasia?

 Foundation questions:

1. What is Aphasia in general?

2. What is conduction aphasia specifically?

3. What are the physical results of conduction aphasia?

4. How does conduction aphasia effect a person's social life?

5. How does conduction aphasia effect a person's family life?

The tenatative point the I plan to make with this project is to create an understanding of conduction aphasia. I really want my audience to value the abilities that they currently have after gaining knowledge of this life-changing disorder.

Genres:

1. A webliography: This will allow my audience to become updated on all my progress researching this disorder.

2. A Poem: This will be in the voice of a fictitious client suffering from conduction aphasia. My intention is for the audience to truly feel the emotions involved in this disorder.

 3. A Power Point Presentation: This will be created by the clinician of a client suffering from conduction aphasia. Factual information will be given relating to the physical effects of the disorder.

4. A Transcript: This will take place between a client and a clinician to allow questions to be asked and answered about conduction aphasia. The audience will gain an understanding about what the client and the clinician are most likely to be concerned about.

5. A Pamphlet: This will be created by a clinician to hand out to the family and friends of a patient with Conduction aphasia to inform them about the disorder and let them know what to do to help.

 6. A letter from the clinician to the client's significant other: This will explain to the novice reader about the affects of the disorder and inform the significant other what they can do to help their loved one. This will help the audience to gain a better general understanding of the disorder.

7. Email exchange~Unifying Genre~This will take place between a woman suffering from the disorder to her mother who lives in another town. My client is dependant upon her mother for support and the exchange of email will not only show the emotions involved in their relationship due to the disorder, but will express the changes in the woman's relationship with her husband. This will allow my audience to realize the raw emotions involved in conduction aphasia.

I will use my unifying genre to not only express the emotional affects of conduction aphasia, but also to show the SLP's involvement in assisting the client suffering from aphasia. The exchange of Email between a mother and daughter is possibly the most affective way of relating to the way a client would work through something this life-changing.

Hi Jill,

Your revised question is still pretty ambitious! You essentially have two questions embedded into one (How does conducton aphasia effect one's life both physically and emotionally?).

How does conduction aphasia affect one's life physically?
How does conduction aphasia affect one's life emotionally?

Both of those are huge questions in and of themselves. I think you should start by narrowing your essential question down to one area or the other (physical effects or emotional effects).
